Anté Antoine
Born in 1997
Hometown: Paris
Anté Antoine is a painter, sculptor and video artist born in Montreuil. Leaving school at the age of 15, he started to work with his father and grandfather on building sites as a plumber. On these sites, Antoine discovered the artistic practice and started to paint on surrounding walls before they were finished and covered, recovering plumbing and other construction material to create sculptural work.
His painterly work combines abstraction and impressionism, treating subjects such as old French traditions and heritage, urban and rural life, and childhood and adolescence memories while contrasting form and content in his oeuvre. Anté draws his inspiration from his past life, his surroundings, cinema and music. For him, the creative process is as important as what results from it - recovering paint pots on building sites, the construction of frames of found wood, and the music he listens to while painting.
In 2019, Antoine began his studies at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in the studio of Stéphane Calais, and in 2021, he participated in the group exhibition “Crush” at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
