Reba Maybury will be reading from her debut novella “Dining with Humpty Dumpty” at The Community.

Clothes by Rottingdean Bazaar and music by Skny Bitch.

”Mistress Rebecca is approached by a 34 year old Tory who works in a corporate field of creativity with a feeding fetish in January 2016. Such mundanity is outrageous - until he declares himself as a female supremacist. Over the period of two evenings and one afternoon in three different chain restaurants in central London, Mistress Rebecca explores Humpty Dumpty’s beliefs then pushes his adoration of humiliation and his facade of female empowerment to its limits.”

Artwork from artist Will Sheldon has been exclusively commissioned for the novella and intricate illustrations of dominatrix boots crushing either sexy or gruesome eggs are intermitted throughout the book.

Taking place pre-Brexit and pre-Trump the book examines an ‘acceptable’ formation of corporate masculinity in all of its lavish neglected responsibility through the complicated dynamic of a dominatrix and her submissive, where questions of authenticity and contemporary subversion are questioned to their extremes.’

As so far, Maybury has launched the novella at Bridget Donahue gallery in NYC in March 2017, and at artist Donna Huanca’s studio in Berlin in June 2017 and is excited to share the work in Paris.

Reba Maybury is a writer and lecturer in politics at Central Saint Martins on the Masters in Fashion Design. In 2015, she founded Wet Satin Press, a publishing company, which explores capitalism’s relationship to male heterosexuality. Dining with Humpty Dumpty is her first novella and was released in 2017. Maybury lives in London and was born in 1990.
