medievl Times IV by Parker Ito
Curated and presented by The Community

The Community is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in France by Los Angeles-based artist Parker Ito. “medievl Times IV” consists of three chapters in different locations in Paris: The first, inaugurated on Saturday, October 12, takes place at The Community House in Pantin. It consists of new site-specific murals, a large painting, and a series of drawings, complemented by an installation of monitors looping a music video created by the artist for Jay Israelson’s “The World Outside”, 2020.

The following day, on Sunday, October 13, further into central Paris and the Marais neighborhood, the artist inaugurates a site-specific installation at Dover Street Market Paris. In the courtyard, Ito presents three hanging bronze sculptures with chains and glowing LED lights. Inside, in Dover Street Market Paris’ B1 space, visitors are invited into a total installation where they are greeted by a mural work, building on the artist’s murals seen in The Community House. Displayed alongside the installation will be limited edition collaboration pieces that will be available for purchase. The exclusive Parker Ito with The Community collection includes the “Joan NFT” t-shirt, the “Why am I so beautiful?” hoodie, and the floriental inspired “The Name of this Scent” fragrance crafted in collaboration with UFO Parfums.

Parker Ito’s Paris Art Week flânerie will conclude with a solo presentation at The Salon by NADA and The Community, the new art fair launching in the 10th arrondissement of Paris on October 17 in the former Baccarat factory. The installation consists of the artist’s latest large-scale paintings of Medieval religious sculptures and abstractions made with light-sensitive dyes.

This new project, spread across multiple sites, reflects the artist’s distinctive approach to creating vast, interconnected artworks. Utilizing mediums like installation, painting, video, and more, Ito’s ideas take form through these varied objects, but it is the connections and interactions between the works and sites that define his approach. This networked structure, which is central to his practice, mirrors the pathways that connect exhibition to exhibition, highlighting the interrelationships that form the foundation of his entire project.
